Information: Lieutenant S. Allen, Royal Irish Rifles, who has been awarded the Military Cross, is the eldest son of Mr. Samuel Allen, LL.D., D.L., of Lisconnan, Dervock, Co. Antrim, and was educated at Aldenham School, Herts. On the outbreak of the war he was with the firm of Messrs. Vickers, Ltd., Sheffield, and in September, 1914, on the formation of the Ulster Division, he joined the 12th Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles, with which he went to France in 1915.
