Information: Major Joseph M'Bride, Royal Field Artillery, the eldest son of Mr. N. C. M‘Bride, New Bridge Street, Downpatrick, was killed in action at Vimy on April 23rd, 1917. Major M‘Bride left with his battery from Dundalk in August, 1914, being then Sergeant-Major. He was given his commission on the field for gallantry at Mons, and for subsequent acts of gallantry was promoted Captain. For distinguished service at the battle of Ginchy he was promoted Major. Major M‘Bride had been twice mentioned in dispatches and wounded three times.
