Information: Lieutenant Edward John McCormick, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, attached Royal Flying Corps, died from wounds received in an engagement with an enemy machine, when after a brave fight his machine was shot down, both he and his pilot being killed. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. McCormick, “Ardoyne”, Mount Eden Road, Donnybrook. On the outbreak of the war he was in Canada, but returned home and, pending receiving his commission in the Inniskilling Fusiliers, enlisted in the South Irish Horse. He subsequently received his commission and shortly afterwards was made Acting Adjutant. He went to France with his regiment in 1915. In November, 1916, he applied for a transfer to the R.F.C.
