Information: Second Lieutenant G.H. Powell, who was killed in action on the 29th April, 1917, was the only surviving son of the late G.H. Powell, M.D., and Mrs. Powell, Cookstown. He was living in London when war was declared, and. immediately joined the London Scottish, going out with that regiment to France in December, 1914. Having helped to save the life of a friend out there he was sent back to England, and in 1916 entered a Cadet Corps, from which he was gazetted to the Machine Gun Corps, and again went out to France in March last.
