Information: Lieutenant John Spencer Dunville V.C., Royal Dragoons, died on June 26th, 1917, from wounds received in carrying out a successful raid, for gallantry on which occasion he was awarded the V.C. He was the son of Flight Commander J.D. Dunville, Royal Naval Air Service, of Redburn, Holywood, Co. Down, who was for many years Private Secretary to the late Duke of Devonshire. Lieutenant Dunville was educated at Eton and Cambridge, and on the outbreak of war joined the Scots Greys, subsequently getting his commission in the Royal Dragoons.
