Information: Lieutenant Reggie George Walton Eland, Canadian Army, who was killed in action on May 3rd, 1917, was the younger son of the late Mr. George W. C. Eland and Mrs. Eland, 3 Albany Terrace, Ranelagh. He was educated at St. Andrew's College, and was for three years a member of Dublin University O.T.C. In 1912 he went to Canada to join the North-West Mounted Police. On the outbreak of the war he was very keen to get to the front, but was obliged to serve the three years he had signed on for. He received his commission in December, 1915, at Calgary, and arrived in England in September, 1916. He went to France in March, 1917.
