Information: Captain Charles V. Fox, D.S.O., Scots Guards, who escaped from Germany on the 3rd inst., after a journey right through Germany lasting thirteen days and nights. He had been two and a half years in prison, had previously escaped on two occasions but was recaptured. In the first battle of Ypres Captain Fox captured an important village with only a handful of men and took alive seven officers and two hundred men, for which he was awarded the D.S.O. He subsequently served through many severe engagements and was wounded on several occasions. Captain Fox's fame as a sportsman is worldwide. He was a special war correspondent in the Balkans, was for some time Deputy Governor of the Hungala Province. He served with the Egyptian Army in the Bier and Annak expeditions, being awarded the medal and clasp. For his services in the Aro expedition he again received the medal and clasp, and for the Southern Nigeria expedition five clasps.
