Information: Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Robert Alexander Stannus, Leinster Regiment, of Ballyboys, Blessington, Co. Wicklow, and 23 Earlscourt Square, London, who died in France recently from wounds received in action. Colonel Stannus was a well known follower of the Kildare Hunt, and had served through the South African war. He was severely wounded in the Gallipoli campaign. He returned to active service in the autumn of 1916, and was mentioned in despatches and recommended for the D.S.O. and the Legion of Honour. Colonel Stannus married in 1895 Elizabeth, only daughter of Captain John Graydon Smith, of Ballyboys, Co. Wicklow.
