Information: Captain John Nugent Cahill, of Leagh, Three Castles, Co. Kilkenny, was killed in action while gallantly leading his men on the 16th August, 1917, aged 27 years. He was the eldest son of Colonel J.N. Cahill, of Ballycoura House, County Kilkenny. He was educated at Clongowes Wood College, and as soon as he left school, at the age of 17, he was gazetted to the 4th Battalion Royal Irish Regiment, his father's old regiment. He was attached to the Royal Irish Rifles at the time of his death. He was married in 1913 to Miss May Nolan, daughter of Doctor Nolan, Tullow.
