Information: Flight Commander Francis D. Casey D.S.O., R.N., was the third son of Mr. Maurice Casey, J.P., Spring Garden, Clonmel. He was born at Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, and educated at St. George's College, Weybridge. Joining the R.N.A.S. soon after the outbreak of war, he was lent to the French at Verdun and attached to the R.F.C. for Somme offensive. He was mentioned in despatches and gained the D.S.C. for conspicuous bravery and skill. When returning from patrol he met with a fatal accident on August 10th, 1917.
