He was thirty-one years of age and was the son of Mr. H. Charles Gregory and Mrs. Gregory, West Court, Callan, County Kilkenny. He had served in various parts of the world and during the present war took part in several engagements, where his ship greatly distinguished itself. In December, 1916, he was promoted to the command of a gun-boat for services in Mesopotamia, where he contracted the illness from which he died on September 10th, 1917. Lieutenant Commander Gregory was a typical sailor and a very gallant officer. His father, who is in his 90th year, has received a very sympathetic telegram from the King and Queen on his loss.
