Information: Second Lieutenant Edward Stokes Hatte, Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed in France on the 16th August, 1917, while most gallantly leading his men into action, was the eldest son of Mr. W. M. Hatte, Kington, Cowper Road. Dublin. He was a member of the Dublin University O.T.C. and of the Ceylon Tea Planters' Rifle Corps. He took part in the fight on the Suez Canal and was in the first landing and the withdrawal from the Dardanelles. He was severely wounded in September, 1916.
