Information: Second Lieutenant Francis Warren Coffee, Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed in an advanced position whilst gallantly leading his men forward during an attack on the enemy's lines on August 16th, 1917, was the eldest and only surviving son of Mr. F.R. Coffee, Inspector, Board of Works, of Fairfield Park, Rathgar. He was educated at Bishop Foy's School, Waterford, Fermoy College, and Trinity College. He was gazetted to the Royal Irish Rifles in October, 1915, proceeded to France in June, 1916, and went through the Somme campaign of that year. He again arrived in France in January last and was on active service there until his death.
