Information: Second Lieutenant Frederick John Gwynn Ellison, Royal Irish Rifles, who has been killed in action, was the son of the Rev. W. F. A. Ellison, and was educated at Mountjoy School, where he distinguished himself in the Intermediate course, gaining several exhibitions and medals. He obtained his commission in the Royal Irish Regiment in February, 1916, but was later transferred to the Royal Irish Rifles. He went to France in July, 1916, where he served continuously until he fell in action. He took part in the capture of the Messines-Wytschaete Ridge, and was leading his men in the attack on the German position behind Ypres when he fell.
