Information: Major J.W. Hughes M.C., Royal Field Artillery, is the son of Mrs. Hughes. Ann's Gift, Fethard. Co. Tipperary. He was educated at St. Columba's College, Rathfarnham, and the Agricultural College, Aspatria. He received his commission in the Royal Field Artillery in September 1914, and went to France in January 1916. He has three times been awarded the Divisional Parchment Certificate for gallantry and devotion to duty in the field, and has now been awarded the Military Cross.
