Information: Captain William Archer Redmond, Irish Guards, M.P. for East Tyrone, has been awarded the D.S.O. for gallant conduct in the field. Captain Redmond was in command in a fierce fight, in which half of his Company were killed or taken prisoners. He himself was blown out of a shell-hole, being hurled into the air and badly shaken. Fortunately, however, he received no serious injuries beyond a sprained knee and ankle. Captain Redmond rallied his remaining men and saved the remaining portion of that part of the line by his promptness in forming a defensive flank. The battle took place on 12th and 13th September. Captain Redmond is a son of Mr. John Redmond, M.P. and a nephew of the late Major William Redmond, M.P.
