Information: 7107 Pte. Desmond de la Poer-Villiers-Stuart (Private Manders), Australian Imperial Force, second son of Captain Gerald Villiers-Stuart, Richmond House, Cappoquin, County Waterford, fell in action in France on August 17th, 1917, under romantic circumstances. Too young to enlist on the outbreak of war, he joined the Cappoquin Company of the National Volunteers, and later went to Australia and enlisted in the Australian Infantry. After six months he was permanently invalided out of the Australian Army, but on recovering re-enlisted under the name of Private Richard Clive Manders. He went to France in July 1917, and was killed a month later.
