            Information: Sub Lieutenant Richard Herbert Sikes, R.N.V.R. killed in action in France on April 24th 1917 was the third son of Mr. R.C. Sikes, 2 Park View, Cork. In 1914 he joined the Sportsman's Battalion, and spent a winter in the trenches. Having refused a position at the Base, he was transferred to the R.N.V.R., and was in command of a company in the Howe Battalion.
