Information: Captain James H. Cecil Gatchell M.C., R.A.M.C., the second son of the Rev. J. H. Gatchell, D.D., Earl's Gift, Donemana, Co. Tyrone, was killed in action in France on September 27th, 1917. Captain Gatchell had seen two years' service at the front. He was a gallant and fearless officer, and gained the Military Cross for distinguished bravery during the battle of Ypres on July 31st and 1st and 2nd Aug., 1917. His aid post was blown in and he was wounded, but continued to attend his duty in the open, under fierce shell-fire.
