Information: Captain H.M. Vanston, Royal Irish Fusiliers attached Essex Regiment, who died on active service on the 4th September, 1917, was the eldest son of the Rev. W.S. Vanston, B.A., and grandson of the late John Davis Vanston, Solicitor, of Hildon Park, Terenure, and Hacketstown, Co. Carlow. Captain Vanston first held a commission in the Munster Fusiliers, and joined the Royal Irish before the war. He saw considerable service at the front, and was twice invalided. Last year he was sent to Egypt and given command of a mobile garrison battalion.
