Information: Lieutenant R.P. Kirkwood, King's Own Scottish Borderers, who was killed whilst gallantly leading his men in Flanders on October 4th, 1917, was the son of Mrs. A. M. Kirkwood. Royal Hibernian Military School, Phoenix Park. Lieutenant Kirkwood went to France with the K.O.S. Borderers as a N.C.O. in the Expeditionary Force in August, 1914; since when he has been twice mentioned in despatches, awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, and promoted to commissioned rank for services rendered in the field. He was severely wounded at Hill 60 in May, 1915.
