Information: Second Lieut. John Alan Harvey, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who was killed in action in France on November 20th, 1917, was the only child of the Rev, Ralph Harvey, rector of Charleville. and formerly headmaster of Cork Grammar School. He entered Trinity College in October, 1915, where he had a distinguished course, and took part in the defence of the University during the rebellion of Easter Week. He joined the University O.T.C. and was gazetted to the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, through the Cadet Corps, in September, 1917. He went to France in October, and was killed on November 20th after having successfully accomplished the difficult and dangerous task of taking a party across a shell-swept zone with ammunition to a captured trench.
