Information: Lieut. Colonel Thomas Andrew Dunlop Best D.S.O., Duke of Wellington's Regiment, was educated at Cheltenham, and passed into the Army from Sandhurst. With the Inniskilling Fusiliers he was through the South African War, and severely wounded in the Battle of Colenso. He was again severely wounded at the landing at Suvla Bay, where he displayed the greatest courage, and was decorated with the D.S.O. Though by no means fully recovered from his wounds he insisted on going to France in command of the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment, and was killed on 20th November in the advance on Cambrai, while gallantly leading his men into action.
