Information: Second Lieutenant George Stride Falkiner, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, was announced killed in France, on August 16th, 1917. He was educated at St. Stephen's Green School, Oxford Preparatory School, and Blundell's Tiverton, where he held the Temple Scholarship. He entered Sandhurst in February, 1916, as a prize cadet, and received his commission in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in October of the same year. He served in France from December, 1916, and was given his parchment for gallant work in a raid near Wytschaete. He fell on August 16th, during severe fighting, east of Ypres, gallantly leading his men, when all the officers of his company had been hit. He was the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Falkiner, Greenoge, Terenure, Dublin.
