Information: Captain Arthur Hugh Dobbs, reported wounded and missing on the 22nd April, 1916, now officially presumed to have been killed on that date. Captain Arthur Hugh Dobbs was the elder son of Lieut-Colonel A. H. Dobbs, retired, Indian Army, and Mrs. Dobbs, late of Bray, Co. Wicklow. He was educated at Elizabeth College, Guernsey, and entered the Liverpool Militia in 1905. He was gazetted to the Shropshire Light Infantry on the 27th May, 1908, and transferred to the 76th Punjaubis in the latter part of 1911. At the time of his death he was attached to another battalion of the Punjaubis with the force under General Gorringe advancing to the relief of Kut.
