Information: Captain Henry Rawson Forde M.C., King's own Yorkshire Light Infantry, who was killed in action on December 2nd, 1917 in his 22nd year, was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Forde, the Manor of Saint John Waterford. He was educated at Clifton College and entered Sandhurst in August 1914. In January 1915 he was gazetted to his regiment and went to France the following October remaining on active service with his battalion continuously until his death. He was promoted captain early in December 1916 and gained the Military Cross for great gallantry in action and on February 14th 1917 when he led his men in an attack and captured an enemy line of strong posts together with 40 prisoners.
