Information: Lieut. Kenneth W. McDonald, Royal Engineers, attached RFC, died in a German Field Hospital on 4th September of wounds received the previous day in aerial combat. He was the younger son of Mr. Joseph McDonald, Kilkenny. When war broke out he joined the Royal Engineers as a private in the first weeks of the war. He was rapidly promoted, and received his commission in his own company later. Volunteering for the Royal Flying Corps, he obtained his pilot's certificate in January of 1917, since which time he had been in France as a pilot. Lieut. McDonald was educated at Kilkenny and Falkirk, and later at the Technical College Glasgow, and was an all round athlete.
