Information: Lieutenant Arthur William Campbell Connal, R.F.A., eldest son of the late Captain A. Campbell Connal, and of Mrs. Connal, Firmount, Mallow, Co. Cork, and grandson of the late William Connal, 19 Park Circus, Glasgow. He was educated at Mr. Lloyd's Winchfield, and at Wellington College, Berks, from which he passed into Woolwich before his 19th birthday. He joined the Royal Field Artillery at Cahir, from which station he left for France with the first Army at the beginning of the war. On October 24th, 1916, while on reconnaissance with Captain Battersby, who commanded the Battery, he was reported “missing”. As no information concerning either has come to hand, their deaths have officially been presumed.
