Information: Captain Ion Claude Cullimore Lee, Royal Munster Fusiliers, was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of a cable-laying party. His party was kept at work, although continuously exposed to heavy shell fire, entirely by the splendid personal example of Captain Lee, who unhesitatingly exposed himself wherever the bombardment was hottest, talking to his men and encouraging them to continue steadily at work. He afterwards remained behind with the medical officer, and by personal search of all the ground, satisfied himself that none of his wounded men were left behind.
