Information: Lieutenant F. G. Brien, Royal Field Artillery, who was killed in action in France on April 20th, 1918, was the youngest son of the late Mr. John W. Brien and Mrs. Brien, Wilton House, Wilton Place, Dublin. He was educated at St. Andrew's College and Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated in 1904. He was well known as a crack rifle shot. He represented Ireland on two occasions at Bisley, when the Elcho Shield was competed for. On the outbreak of the war he volunteered for active service, and received a commission in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, with whom he served in France, and was wounded in 1916. He was subsequently transferred to the R.F.A., and went to France for the second time in October last, being afterwards sent to Italy, where he commanded a Trench Mortar Battery until his return to France in April.
