Information: Captain Marcus Menus O'Keeffe M.C., Royal Field Artillery, was killed in action on April and, 1918, in his 21st year, when in command of his battery. He was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry in action in extricating two men who had been buried in a dug-out, and two days later while acting as observing officer by his coolness and gallantry he rendered most valuable service. He was a member of a very old and honoured Cork family, resident at Mount Keeffe, Newmarket, for nearly 300 years, and was the only son of Major General O'Keeffe C.B., Army Medical Service, and Mrs. O'Keeffe, of Hazelwood, Shooters Hill, Kent.
