Information: Lieutenant John C. Maher, Irish Guards, was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Maher, of Victoria, B.C., and Greenwood, Black rock, and grandson of the late John Maher, D.L., of Ballinkeele, for many years M.P. for Co. Wexford. Lieut. Maher was born in British Columbia, and was educated at the University School, Victoria, B.C., where he was a member of the Cadet Corps. In April 1916, he entered Sandhurst, and in October 1916, was gazetted to the Irish Guards. In February of this year he was gazetted Lieutenant, and was killed in action on April 14th.
