Information: Lieut. Colonel J. Russell Darley, on whom the King has now conferred the distinction of C.I.E., is the son of the late Dr. Benjamin Darley, of Coolock. After many years with his regiment in India, he has served with signal success in the war in the East. He was five times mentioned in despatches, received the D.S.O. at the first taking of Kut, and was wounded at the battle of Ctesiphon. After recovering his health at home, he rejoined his regiment in Mesopotamia in time to enter Bagdad after its capture by General Maude.
