Information: Lieut. Colonel Philip A. Meldon D.S.O., R.F.A., who was severely wounded on the 9th of May, in France, is the eldest son of Sir Albert Meldon, of Vevay House, Bray, Co. Wicklow. He joined the Artillery in 1900, and served through the South African war, gaining two medals and five clasps. In 1913 he was selected as Professor of Artillery and Tactics at Kingston Military College, Canada, but relinquished that post for active service on the outbreak of the war in 1914, and went to France, where he obtained the Mons medal. On being wounded, he was sent back to England, but again saw active service, going out to Gallipoli with the 10th Division. There he won the Distinguished Service Order and was present at the evacuation of both Suvla and Helles.
