Information: Second Lieut (acting Captain) John James Gyves, joined the Royal Engineers shortly after the outbreak of war, with which regiment he served in France until March, 1917. In September he obtained his commission, and was gazetted to the 11th R.D.F., and went to France in October, and was there attached to the 1st Battalion of that regiment. He was killed on the 3rd of June, 1918.
