Information: Capt. N.L.C. Irwin, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, who has been awarded the Distinguished Service Order, was educated at Wesley College, Dublin, of which school his father. Rev. T.J. Irwin, D.Litt., is Principal. During his last year in school he captained the Cup fifteen, and played for Leinster against Ulster and Munster in the interprovincial matches. During an offensive Captain Irwin, whose company was in reserve, received orders to relieve a battalion that was being surrounded by the enemy and the D.S.O. is awarded for the skill and courage with which the command was successfully carried out.
