Information: Captain (acting Lieut. CoIonel) Robert Hemphill D.S.O., R.A.M.C., who has been awarded the D.S.O., is the eldest son of the Rev. Dr. Samuel Hemphill, Hamilton, Ailesbury Road, Dublin, and is in his 30th year. He was educated at Parsonstown Preparatory School, Aravon, and Armagh, and afterwards entered the Medical School of Trinity College and Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital. He was a well known Irish International football player. He obtained his commission in the R.A.M.C. in January, 1913, and played in the Army and Navy match that year. On the outbreak of the war he was sent to France, and was twice mentioned in despatches.
