Information: Second Lieut. George Edward Ffrench, Royal Air Force, who was killed in action in France, on May 23rd, was the eldest son of the Rev. Le B.E. Ffrench, Rector of Kilconnell, Co. Galway. He was born at Shinrone Rectory, King's Co., on June 5th, 1899, and was educated at Chesterfield School, Birr, and Trent College, Derbyshire. He was also one of the best shots in the Rifle Corps, He joined the Royal Flying Corps in August, 1917, obtaining his “wings” in March. He was immediately ordered to France, and in the short period of his active service had been in several engagements, and was mentioned in the confidential report of the Air Force as having brought down a German machine.
