Information: Captain Dudley G. Johnson, D.S.O., of the South Wales Borderers, received his Captaincy in March, 1914. He was serving with his regiment in China when war broke out, and was engaged in the operations at Tsing-Tau, where he greatly distinguished himself, and was granted the Distinguished Service Order, which was bestowed, according to The Gazette, ‘ for conspicuous ability on the night of November 5th-6th, 1914, during the operations against the German positions at Tsing-Tau, and for great gallantry in rescuing several wounded men whilst exposed to heavy machine-gun fire.’
