Information: Second Lieutenant Alfred Francis Bate, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, was the youngest son of Mr. E. R. Bate, Solicitor to the Post Office in Ireland. He was educated at St. Columba’s College, Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin, and he took his degree at Trinity College Dublin in 1913. He received his commission in August last and, at the time of his death was attached to the 2nd Leinster Regiment. He was in his 23rd year.
