Information: Captain Hyacinth Albert Roche, Flight Commander Royal Flying Corps, and Royal Munster Fusiliers, was the youngest son of Sir John and Lady Roche, 76 Merrion Square, Dublin. Mentioned in Despatches. Captain Roche met his death as he was setting out with three of his comrades on a bomb-dropping raid in Belgium. When he was only a few miles out an explosion took place in his machine and Captain Roche had to drop his whole stock of bombs at once. The aeroplane fell into the sea and Captain Roche’s dead body was found a few hours later on the sands.
