Information: Second Lieutenant Charles Richard Griffin Vance, youngest son of the Rev. Chancellor Vance, M.A., Rathronan, Ardagh, County Limerick, killed in action near Ypres, March 9th, aged 21 years. He was educated at Campbell College, Belfast, where he was one of the original members of the contingent of the Officers’ Training Corps in 1909. Before joining the Cheshire Regiment at the outbreak of war, he was a premium apprentice at Crewe Loco. Works. He went to the front in November, and had only returned a week after being home on furlough when he was killed. He is the fifth old Campbellian to lose his life in the present war.
