Information: Captain Francis William Mowbray Leader, Connaught Rangers, was killed in action on August 26th. He was the elder son of Mr. F.H.M. Leader, J.P. late R.A., and Mrs. F.H. Leader, of Alassas, Coachford, Co. Cork. He was gazetted to his Regiment in January, 1903, passing from the Manchester Militia, with which Corps he had served through the Boer War, and obtained the Queen's Medal with four clasps. He also took part in the Southern Nigerian Campaign, and received the medal with clasps. He was gazetted Lieutenant in 1905 and Captain in August, 1914.
