Information: Lieut. Robert Andrew de Stacpoole, Connaught Rangers, fourth son of the Duke de Stacpoole, was born in 1892 at Mount Hazel, Co. Galway, and went to Downside School in September, 1902. In the autumn of 1902, he left school and entered Sandhurst in the following year. He was gazetted to the Connaught Rangers in September, 1911. When the hostilities broke out he accompanied his regiment to the front. He was killed in action at the battle of the Aisne on Sunday, the 20th September. Of the Duke's five sons, three others are now on active service; in the Connaught Rangers, the Prince of Wales Leinster Regiment, and the Royal Field Artillery, respectively.
