Information: Major Richard Saker, Connaught Rangers, was wounded at the memorable landing in Gallipoli on April 25th, but returned to the firing line and was killed in action the following day. He had served in the South African War and obtained the Queen's Medal with four clasps. He became Captain of the Connaught Rangers in 1907. At the outbreak of the war he was in Australia, but became attached to the 5th Batt. Australian Corps, and proceeded with them to the Dardanelles.
