Information: Second Lieutenant Donal Charles O'Connell, Connaught Rangers, who was killed in action in France on the 9th September, 1916, was the second son of Mr. James J. O'Connell, manager of the National Bank, College Green, Dublin, and only 21 years of age. He was gazetted to the Connaught Rangers in March, 1915, and was sent to the front last July. He was through all the recent big engagements, and was killed while directing his machine gun fire on a hostile gun during an attack. His elder brother is a Lieutenant in the R.F.A., and has seen much service in Gallipoli and Mesopotamia, where he is still serving.
