Information: Lieutenant Eric Edge Beatty, Connaught Rangers, was killed in action in France on April 29th, 1916, in his 22nd year. He was the son of Mr. Wallace Beatty, M.D., 38 Merrion Square, and was educated at St. Columba's College and Dublin University, where he was halfway through his medical course when war broke out. He immediately joined the Connaught Rangers, and received his promotion in February, 1915, and in December of that year left for the front with his battalion as machine gun officer. Lieutenant Beatty had been specially selected for promotion to the rank of Captain, but fell before he could be gazetted.
