Date published: 24/11/1916
Killed in action: No
Information: Captain W. Parke, Connaught Rangers, whose death in action was reported some days ago, had refused the offer of Provost Marshal, and was, it is understood, about to be promoted to the rank of Brevet Major. He had seen much service, having gone through the Matabele campaign, where he obtained the medal and clasp. Captain Parke was a native of County Roscommon. He was one of a large and much esteemed family, and was brother to the famous Surgeon Major Parke, of Stanley fame, whose statue adorns Leinster Lawn. He had only been married a year before his death.
