Information: Second Lieutenant J. Harold MacKeown, Connaught Rangers, reported on the 7th Oct., 1917, killed in action in Mesopotamia, was the second son of Mr. John MacKeown, Glantane Street, Belfast, a respected official of the G.P.O., who now holds a commission in the Royal Flying Corps. The deceased obtained his commission in August, 1915, through the Queen's University O.T.C. He was a former choir boy of Belfast Cathedral, and a talented musician, being a member of the Belfast Philharmonic Orchestra. Second Lieut. MacKeown was a grandson of the late Mr. Ritchie Thornberry, Castlecaulfield, and a nephew of the Very Rev. Dean Thornberry, Laramie, Wyoming, U.S.A.
