Information: Second Lieutenant Hugh Victor Moore, Connaught Rangers, who was killed in action on March 21st 1918, was the son of Mr. J. Moore, 10 Auburn Terrace, Athlone. He was educated at Wesley College, Dublin, and was a well known member of Old Wesley Football team. On the outbreak of the war he joined the Black Watch, with whom he served in France from June, 1915, to April 1916. In December, 1916, he was given his commission in the Connaught Rangers, being subsequently attached to a Trench Mortar Battery. In November, 1917, he received the parchment certificate of his division for gallantry and devotion to duty in the field.
